We Deserve One More Day Of Magic

We Deserve One More Day Of Magic

Asking this Mets team to beat this Dodgers team in three straight games  seems unrealistic.

The 2024 Mets that the city fell in love with over the last half of the season and through the postseason run have looked more like the 2024 Mets team the city was ready to throw away during the first half of the season.

During their playoff run the Mets have produced magical moment after magical moment, games this franchise have lost more times than Mets fans can count were suddenly being won.

The demons of the Atlanta Braves were exercised by a  two out two run homer by Francisco Lindor.

Just three days later down two runs and down to their final two outs, in the decisive game three of the wildcard series in Milwaukee, a scenario that  Mets fans expected to play out, one they’ve  seen many times before where the final two outs are recorded and the Mets go quietly into the off-season suddenly didn’t go according to script.

Pete Alonso slugged and opposite field three run home run and the Mets pulled out the second magical win in less than a week

Next came the NL East champion Phillies, there was no postseason history between these two rivals but the recent past had seen the Phillies play in the World Series just a few years earlier while the Mets struggled, only making the playoffs one time in nine years.

With the Mets up two games to one, the Phillies had a late 1-0 lead in game four and were only a few outs away from sending the series back to Philadelphia for a win or go home game five when Francisco Lindor once again, provided a magical postseason moment. With one swing of the bat Lindor gave the Mets a 4-1 lead. They would win by the very score and advance to the NLCS for the first time since 2015 to face the LA Dodgers

Through the first four games of the NLCS the magic that seemed to show up when needed, magic the fans of this team were just starting to expect would show up was nowhere to be found. After splitting the first two games in LA, The Dodgers have out-scored the Mets 18 -2 in games three and four at Citi Field. Later today the teams will play game five and with their backs against the wall, facing elimination, and up against what is seemingly an insurmountable 3-1 series deficit, the Mets fans will be looking for any sign of the magic they’ve come accustomed to recently with this team.

The old Mets would go down quietly to a better Dodgers team, take their bows and go on their way, but not this group, they will fight to the end and try to give their loyal fansa glimmer of hope and a glimpse, at least One last time,of the magic that has made this October so much fun and this team one that will not soon be forgotten.
